Closed testing Alpha

Org Mobile · Android 8.0 and up

Google Play will only hand a testing build to addresses that are on the tester list before the release goes out. Leave yours here and I will add it to the next round.

Closed testing is planned for and you will be notified when it starts.

This is early software. Do not trust it with anything you cannot lose. It writes to your real .org files. Take a backup, or point it at a copy of your vault, before you start.

It has to be the address your Google Play account uses — that is what Play matches the tester list against, and a different address will silently never see the build.

What to call you — in the tester list, and in the credits if you report something that gets fixed. A handle is fine; it does not have to be your name.

What happens next

  1. Your address goes on the tester list for the next release.
  2. You get one email with the Play opt-in link. Opening it on the phone you will test on matters — the opt-in is per Google account, and Play only offers the build once that account has accepted.
  3. Org Mobile shows up in the Play Store for you like any other app, marked as a test build, and updates itself as new ones go out. It stays unlisted while testing is closed — searching the store will not turn it up — so keep the opt-in link.

Testing rounds are not on a schedule. If it has been a while and you have heard nothing, that means there has been nothing worth shipping, not that you were forgotten.

What I do with your address

Reporting a bug

The most useful thing you can send is the Org file that broke, or the smallest part of it that still does — the parser is where most of the sharp edges are. GitHub issues are the best place; email works too.

Things worth reporting even if they feel small: a heading that renders wrong, a file that comes back from the app different from how it went in, an Emacs theme that converts badly, a command in the palette that does not do what its Emacs namesake does.
